About This Role
We're seeking a smart, motivated attorney to help our company grow and scale as we continue to deliver financial products and services that improve the lives of consumers across Canada. The Senior Legal Counsel will support a broad range of legal areas with a focus on commercial work, privacy law, as well as product development and regulatory matters.
What You'll Do
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including complex arrangements with banking, processing and technology partners / vendors
Support our product and partnerships teams on structuring and documenting strategic partnerships
Draft and develop standards for contract templates, contract lifecycle management and legal workflow
Provide support to Enterprise and Third-Party Risk Management initiatives
Advise on laws and regulations relevant to financial services, consumer protection, marketing, and privacy
Draft T&Cs and disclosures
Review marketing collateral and customer communications
Manage privacy law matters (tracking privacy requirements, building/managing compliance policies, responding to 3rd party due diligence requests, handling data subject requests)
What You'll Bring
6+ years of post-call experience as a lawyer practicing in Canada (in-house and/or at a law firm)
Contract negotiation and drafting skills (Experience in tech procurement is a plus)
Familiarity with privacy law, consumer protection and financial services regulation (Experience in the fintech industry or banking is a plus)
You're proactive, curious, non-complacent, responsive, reliable, honest, and extremely organized
You're a a very fast learner who can operate well in high ambiguity situations
You have a growth mindset, strong ownership, and a strong work ethic
