About KOHO
We’re on a mission to make financial services better for every Canadian. That means no hidden fees, no predatory interest rates - just financial products designed to help our users spend smart, save more, and build real wealth. We’re a performance organization with a strong heart: we care deeply about outcomes, and everything ties back to our mission - to financially empower a generation of Canadians.
At KOHO, we’re not your average 9-5. We believe real impact comes from people who are trusted, empowered, and supported to do their best work - without sacrificing their lives to do it. We prioritize work-life integration, not just work-life balance. That means asynchronous collaboration, flexible hours, and a remote-first setup built around autonomy and high trust.
KOHO is entering its next chapter - leaner, smarter, more AI-integrated. We’re building for impact, not bureaucracy. If you thrive in environments that value clarity, ownership, and bold thinking, you’ll fit right in.
About This Role
We’re looking for a strategic and experienced Manager of AML Policy and Strategy to lead and evolve KOHO’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Anti-Terrorist Financing (ATF) frameworks. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain robust AML policies and strategies that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while supporting our agile, innovative fintech environment.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Compliance, Risk, Legal, and Product, to embed AML best practices across the organization. This is a hands-on role requiring a deep understanding of regulatory expectations, emerging risks, and industry trends.
What You'll Be Doing:
Develop, review, and update KOHO’s AML/ATF policies, procedures, and frameworks to meet or exceed regulatory standards (FINTRAC, OSFI, etc.).
Lead AML risk assessments and develop strategic plans to mitigate risks aligned with business growth and innovation.
Design and create rules and scenarios within AML monitoring systems to detect suspicious activity, ensuring they are optimized and regularly updated to reflect evolving risks.
Source, evaluate, and implement new AML monitoring technologies and systems to enhance detection capabilities and streamline compliance workflows.
Serve as the internal point of contact for due diligence requests related to AML, coordinating responses and providing necessary documentation to support business and regulatory inquiries.
Monitor changes in AML/ATF regulations and industry guidance, interpreting their impact on KOHO’s compliance program.
Collaborate with operational teams to integrate AML controls within product development, customer onboarding, transaction monitoring, and reporting processes.
Provide subject matter expertise and training on AML policies, monitoring systems, and regulatory expectations to internal stakeholders.
Lead and support AML audits, regulatory examinations, and internal reviews.
-
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and leverage technology to enhance AML detection and prevention capabilities.
Who You Are:
You have 5+ years of experience in AML/ATF compliance, policy development, or related regulatory roles within fintech, banking, or financial services.
You have strong knowledge of Canadian AML regulations and frameworks, including FINTRAC, PCMLTFA, and OSFI guidelines.
You’ve designed and implemented AML policies, risk assessments, and controls in dynamic environments.
You have hands-on experience creating and fine-tuning rules within AML monitoring systems, and you’re familiar with sourcing or implementing new AML technologies.
You can translate regulatory requirements into practical, scalable policies and procedures.
You excel at collaboration and communication, able to influence and partner effectively across functions.
You bring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
Relevant certifications such as CAMS or CFCS are a plus.
