About the team

nesto is looking for an experienced Manager, Mortgage Underwriting to join its growing team. In order to facilitate the fast growth of nesto, we are looking for a highly motivated, organized, fast-moving, mortgage professional with excellent communication, and customer service skills. This person will get to play a key role in our team.

What you'll be doing

  • Working closely with lending partners to manage complex lending applications, exceptions and escalations, as well as, resolving issues while maintaining a great working relationship.
  • Working closely with the internal Quality Assurance and Compliance team for completion of internal and external audits.
  • Ensuring mortgage applications are completed within a specific time frame.
  • Review and analyze mortgage loan applications and supporting documentation, including credit reports, income verification, corporate financial statements, personal asset statements, and appraisal reports; identifying and mitigating any potential risks associated with loan applications.
  • Maintain accurate and organized loan files, ensuring all required documentation is present adhering to company policies and lending guidelines.
  • Providing best-in-class support to nesto's Mortgage Advisor network and their clients as they progress through the application process.
  • Balancing Risk with Mortgage Advisor and customer satisfaction as the #1 priority.

Who we're looking for

  • A minimum of 7 years experience as a mortgage underwriter.
  • Experience with small business lending and high net worth lending.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage lending principles and regulatory requirements in the Canadian mortgage industry.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Strong English and French communication skills.
  • Organized, meticulous, sound thinker, ability to multitask, ability to thrive in a changing environment
  • Strong interest in helping transform the mortgage customer journey.
