The Role
We are looking for a highly experienced and adaptable Staff Software Engineer to join our Strategic Solutions team. This role is designed for engineers who thrive in ambiguity, excel at solving complex technical problems, and can operate effectively across multiple teams and domains.
As part of the Strategic Solutions team, you will partner closely with the Head of Delivery & People and the Chief Architect to lead and execute cross-team strategic initiatives that accelerate delivery, improve engineering effectiveness, and maintain high quality standards across the organization.
You will also embed temporarily within specific engineering teams when needed to help resolve urgent, high-impact technical challenges, unblock delivery, and strengthen engineering practices. This role requires a combination of technical leadership, hands-on execution, systems thinking, and exceptional collaboration skills.

What You’ll Do
Strategic & Cross-Team Impact
- Lead and execute high-impact, cross-functional engineering initiatives across multiple teams.
- Partner with engineering leadership to identify delivery bottlenecks, architectural risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Drive alignment between teams on technical standards, architecture, scalability, and engineering best practices.
- Help accelerate organizational delivery while maintaining a strong focus on software quality, reliability, and maintainability.
- Influence technical direction and engineering strategy across the organization.
Embedded Team Support
- Temporarily embed within engineering teams to tackle complex or urgent technical challenges.
- Provide hands-on support during critical delivery periods, production incidents, migrations, or large-scale refactors.
- Help teams improve velocity through mentorship, technical guidance, and pragmatic execution.
- Assist teams in resolving architectural, performance, scalability, and reliability issues.
- Contribute directly to implementation when necessary, including writing and reviewing production-grade code.
Technical Leadership
- Serve as a technical mentor and trusted advisor to engineers and engineering managers.
- Establish and promote engineering best practices, development standards, and scalable design patterns.
- Lead architectural discussions and help teams make informed technical tradeoffs.
- Advocate for operational excellence, observability, testing, security, and maintainability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering organization.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience operating at a senior or staff engineering level.
- Proven ability to lead complex, cross-team technical initiatives from conception through delivery.
- Strong expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, scalability, and modern engineering practices.
- Demonstrated experience working across multiple teams, stakeholders, and technical domains.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly understand unfamiliar systems and codebases.
- Strong hands-on coding ability and willingness to contribute directly when needed.
- Experience leveraging AI-driven engineering tools and workflows to enhance software delivery, improve engineering efficiency, and support scalable, high-quality development practices across teams.
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction without direct authority.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to balance speed, pragmatism, and technical quality in fast-moving environments.
Nice to Have
- Experience operating in high-growth or rapidly evolving engineering organizations.
- Background in platform engineering, developer productivity, reliability engineering, or architecture-focused roles.
- Experience leading incident response, system modernization, or organizational scaling initiatives.
- Experience with Typescript, React, Golang and ability to pick up new technologies, languages, frameworks
- Familiarity with AWS, CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and modern software delivery practices.

Base Salary
The base salary range is $200,000 - $210,000 annually
Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise, location and current market data and may vary from the range above.
