Build something people love

Wealthsimple is on a mission to help everyone achieve financial freedom by reimagining what it means to manage your money. Using smart technology, we take financial services that are often confusing and expensive and make them transparent and low-cost for everyone. We’re the largest fintech company in Canada, with 3+ million users who trust us with more than $100 billion in assets. And we’re just getting started.

We’re looking for someone who thinks big, sweats the small stuff and keeps things simple. You’ll join a high-bar, fast-paced team where people are trusted to own their work, communicate openly, and ship things that improve our clients’ lives. Collaboration, humility, and an obsession over quality are how we get stuff done.

Be a part of our Canadian success story and help shape the financial future of millions. Read our Culture Manual and learn more about how we work.

About the Domain - Clients & Accounts Platform

The Clients & Accounts domain at Wealthsimple oversees the broad and important mandate of growing our client base. We acquire and guide clients through their onboarding journey so that they can seamlessly open and fund their accounts — most often we do this with no human intervention and in hours not days! To accomplish this, we’ve built industry-leading technology focused on automation and integrate various third-party technologies to verify client identities and link bank accounts. We’re also highly data-backed and execute experiments and features to reduce friction in our user experience — helping new clients onboard easier, and existing clients adopt additional Wealthsimple products and refer others.

About the Team - Clients & Accounts Enablement

The Engineering Enablement team is a vital internal function within this domain, focused on accelerating the delivery and enhancing the reliability of all other Clients & Accounts engineering teams. The team’s core mandate is to drive the department’s operational excellence, improve developer tooling, system reliability, scalability, quality, and monitoring. This team increases the velocity of the department so that we can ship code faster and more confidently, reduce the maintenance cost of our systems, function as a liaison to our Infrastructure Platform (Infraplat) department, and improve system observability and operational processes.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Software Development Manager or in a similar leadership role, managing a team of software engineers.

  • Strong technical background with the ability to set strategic technical direction, review architecture, and ensure engineering excellence, with a deep focus on DevOps, Developer Tooling, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.

  • Expertise in implementing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices.

  • Demonstrated experience in people management, including hiring, mentoring, performance management, and career development.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with Product, Design, and other cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with modern web/service architectures (e.g., Ruby, SQL, JavaScript/React, Java/Kotlin, GraphQL) with hands-on experience in building and operating scalable, reliable systems, monitoring, logging, and performance analysis.
